I leave for Brooklyn on Monday, and I'm so excited to be going there in May. The weather will be perfect, and the Brooklyn Botanic Garden will be in full spring bloom with cherry trees, lilacs and a host of flowering trees. We will visit it on Tuesday with a dear friend who lives in Park Slope.
We will just miss the Sakura Matsuri this weekend, but the blossoms should still be out! I wonder if there will be wisteria (fuji no hana). When I was little and living in Japan, I learned folk dances to Sakura, Sakura, and Fuji no hana. I still have little garbled bits of the songs in my memory.
