Jane is a 2017 documentary, directed by Brett Morgan, about Jane Goodall. Drawing on 100 hours of footage that had been lost in the National Geographic archives until 2014, it documents her beginnings as a primatologist in Tanzania. The musical score is by Philip Glass. Things I learned: she had no scientific background and no degree, and thus was not steeped in some of the prejudices of the time; she seems to have had the ability to scramble bare-legged through the bush without getting scratched; her young son Grub hated the chimps (probably because they took his mother away from him) and now builds boats in Dar es Salaam. The shots of caterpillars and birds are as glorious as those of the chimps and other animals.
