Book 7: The Emperor of All Maladies

 I'd had this book in my stack for a long time: The Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer by Siddhartha Mukherjee (2010). The book won the Pulitzer prize and has been made into a Ken Burns series. A very readable, elegant narrative of the story of our knowledge of cancer, the struggle to understand and treat it, the individual stories of suffering and recovery, the collective story of scientific research and discovery. My mother's cancer story floated above my experience of reading it.
