Viewed for a new cinema chat group I'm going to try out tomorrow: Ninotchka (1939) with Greta Garbo. Co-written by Billy Wilder, directed by Ernst Lubitsch.
What is the Lubitsch touch? in Ninotchka, it's a frothy comedy with serious undertones: the imminent war, Soviet repression. But revolutionary ideals are no match for a wacky hat and a little champagne. Paris is freedom.
