What comedy shows make you laugh out loud? The Simpsons? Glee? Big Bang Theory?

My new favorite comedy show is Community. Maybe it's because I work on a university campus, or because I teach Spanish, but I think it's also the quality of the writing and acting. The ensemble cast is made up a really talented comedians.

I can't believe I'm going to miss tonight's debate! Should I be disappointed or relieved? The political junkie in me wants my last fix of political theater shared on a live thread in the moment, but the other, saner and healthier part of me thinks it will JUST FINE to watch the blooper reel on YouTube tomorrow. Journalist Roberto Lovato blogs at "Of América," and he can be relied on for the big picture. He points out the most chilling moment of the VP debate for me, when Palin talked about supposed "expanded powers" for the VP as somehow constitutional, and Biden reminded us bluntly that Dick Cheney has been the most dangerous Vice President in history. She may wink and act folksy, but when you take away the trappings, the message is the same: we don't need no Constitution. While we are watching the campaign, the Bush administration has just handed over $700 billion to Cheney's buddies, and there are attempts to use the rules process to bypass Congress and undermine existing legislation.

Literecy Cat is Amaized...

First I learned what emo meant; now, I've been turned on to cat macros, lolcats and invisible bikes.
Anil Dash explains the lolcats phenomenon in "Cats Can Has Grammar." I sent Dave McRaney's article to my linguist friends because it analyzes leetspeak. It is featured on the site I Can Has Cheezburgers?. Of course, there is a Flickrpool of cat macros.

But my current favorite manifestation is loltheorists over at Livejournal (featuring Socrates, Judith Butlers, Nietzsche, Searle, Derrida, and many more!) Of course, now we must revisit the Monty Python International Philosophers match (Germany vs. Greece).
