Lower East Side

 Today's excursion Lower East Side and a movie.

First we went to the Essex Market food hall. Took the L to the M at Myrtle-Wyckoff and rode across the river to the Delancey-Essex station. The Market is right there, and we strolled through all the glossy fruits and vegetables, the cheese and bakery, to the restaurant section where we had pernil with arroz y gandules, and maduros. We also got passion fruit-lychee iced tea, so perfumed and delicious!  

The Internantional Center of Photography Museum is right across the street. Their current exhibition is a retrospective of the work of William Klein, who directed Who Are You, Polly Magoo? and whose photography of the streets and peoples of various cities were arresting and evocative. He also had done a lot with abstraction in painting, photography and book design.

After that, Rosemary went off to Book Club bookstore and cafe/wine bar to work, and I went in the opposite direction to  the Metrograph Cinema for a 2PM showing of Ozu's Equinox Flower. It was his first color film and stars the red teapot.
